Could Dubai be the next fashion capital?
The 2nd edition of Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience organised by Vogue Italia held a 3- day celebration showcasing international design and also providing a mentoring platform to nurture the upcoming generation of fashion designers…and there were fashion elite in town.
Yes fashion royalty descended on The Dubai Mall and the VDFE catwalk show …. last year it was Naomi Campbell and Roberto Cavalli, this year he returned with Ciara and model Karolina Kurkova.
They were joined by singer Lana Del Rey, and other leading designers including Alberta Ferretti, Philipp Plein and Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas.
Not forgetting the fashion force behind the event Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani.
One of the highlights of the event, was the flagship catwalk showcase of 8 designers, and their spring-summer 2015 collections presented by Karolina Kurkova.
Taking in down to a more neutral colour palette # 3, designers Bushra Badri and Amira Al Khaja from the UAE worked to accentuate technique and emphasize the concept of functionality. Clean lines, sophisticated silhouettes and the perfect fit are the primary focus of the label, incorporating fine fabrics and materials and to promote cultural elements through design.
The latest collection from Asudari and Saudi Arabia's Lamia Asudari explores new concepts, liberating itself through digitally printed geometric patterns.
Also exploring the concept of movement and rebirth of nature Is Sicilian Salvatore Piccione.
He plays with macro pixels that become dots, as in the paintings of Roy Lichtenstein.
In addition to the catwalk events and the exhibitions, The Fashion Talks program were conducted by ‘A’ list international designers and fashion icons including ‘The Strength of Tradition’ by Alberta Ferretti, ‘From Denim to Red Carpet’ by Roberto Cavalli and
‘New Generation in Fashion’ by Franca Sozzani
