Are Designer Brands Laughing at Us? Or is Luxury Clothing Worth The Money?
Today Bianca and Byron are speaking about designerwear.
After returning from a trip to Dubai, Byron and Bianca saw lots of people in designer clothing, that didnt look appealing, which begs the question do people wear it simply due to the weight and influence the brand provides.
In this discussion Byron and Bianca want to find out if designers are designing outlandish and ugly attire on purpose or if people are buying these expensive pieces just portray a lifestyle.

Some of them are good, others not so much… they can sell whatever they want due to having such a strong brand identity that they have developed for several decades. You don’t expect anything from Gucci, LV, Prada etc. to be low quality because these brands epitomise luxury. Therefore, even if an item can be perceived to be “ugly” by normal standards, just the fact that an item is associated with such a luxury brand automatically makes it “cool” or “edgy”. The brand itself is what sells, not the item. With that being said, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if the perceived “ugly” items these brands put out sell the least….Their classic items are probably their best sellers, and these new items may only serve to make the brand seem “trendy”, “edgy” and “fashion forward”, perhaps this only adds to the perception of luxury these brands work so hard to uphold.

Does this pertain to new money or old ? Because what i realise is that new money doesn’t know or understand the word TASTE. A consumer needs to understand that word, but most people have not been taught how to back away from certain pieces that don’t look good. Plus ego plays a huge part in buying designer now. The high end brands put out a lot of product compared to how they were back in the day, because they know the money is out here. Yeah, a lot of it is BS, but even the rich just love to keep up with the joneses amongst themselves.

The saying ‘more money than sense’ comes into play (is that another blog coming along guys?)
I like nice pieces but I do agree as I have said it to myself, some designs that have been coming out, especially down the catwalk for so many years is ugly, atrocious is more my word. Some things you wouldn’t even be able to walk down the road in comfortably.
I do have ‘designer bags, purse and few more bits all gifted to me. The notion to buy as investment pieces is more to my liking and my conscience can live with lol. All in all, I do believe these brands do put out anything they believe that people will buy because it’s a named brand, and they have the money to push the marketing, although we should all know that not everything is suited to everyone. At the end of the day whose leading who?

“Where do you live thoughh?” LOOL…For some, I think it’s peer pressure and misplaced priorities, with a hint of inferiority complex. I bought a Gucci belt in my 2nd year at Uni to “fit in”, 2013, wore it a few times and gave it to my best bud (the same year) whom I believe really appreciated it. Since then I haven’t bought much designer, however, I believe they make some really quality stuff and owning a number of QUALITY (in terms of style and longevity) designer pieces won’t hurt nobody, especially if you could afford it easily. Lately though, a couple of designer brands are definitely ROTFLMFAO at people buying some of their collections 😂😂
